Now that the re-launch of Lavender Lounge is in full swing, it’s clear that the site has settled on a fetish theme. It kind of happened by evolution rather than by conscious design.

When I started shooting new HD content specifically for the re-launch of Lavender Lounge, it was just standard fuck-and-suck shot in my living room. When I got tired of moving furniture every time I wanted to shoot, I decided to try shooting in the garage. By doing so, I was able to leave the lighting in place between shoots to save time. And if you’re working in a grungy looking garage space, it naturally lends itself to rougher, kinkier themes as opposed to the romantic, natural-light settings of a living room.

In evaluating the garage for a shooting space, with that high ceiling and exposed support bracing, the first thing I thought was, “I need a sling!” I put a call out to my friends and got a response almost immediately. A kinky friend of mine lent me his Crisco encrusted sling, because “…it’s just sitting in a closet”. He refused to sell it to me and insisted that he wanted it back at some point.

The sling instantly became the focus of my new videos. It allows me to get good camera angles, allows the models to fuck in relative comfort, and the lights are set to always provide a good image.

When my friend wanted his sling back, I posted another call on Facebook and got another quick response. This time I was able to buy a sling of my own. A bartender friend of my had one in his basement that a trick left behind, and it turns out it had never been used. He was glad to get $100 for a top-of-the-line sling that sells at Mr. S Leather for over $450.

Working within the fetish theme has given me lots of inspiration to experiment as a film maker. Wrists bound by chains attached to heavy wooden beams is an arresting image. Experimenting with power-play and submission can be a mind-fuck. Letting go while restrained can be an emotional release, or terrorizing in the converse. And that’s just some of the psychological aspects.

Visually, seeing men in leather gear with various sex toys adds more “action”. A muscular top wielding a whip or paddle with athletic intensity shows off his physique and definition. But to avoid fashion faux pas, I mostly ask the men be naked in boots throughout the scene, with harnesses optional. By avoiding trendy styles of underwear and street clothing and sticking to the basics fashion-wise, the scenes will better stand the test of time. Lavender Lounge will be going for the more classic fetish “look”.
